I think it can be said that 'getting away' is a good thing. Whether it's simply getting out of town for the day, going for a hike, visiting a local island or a larger vacation offside North America, we need to re-charge and fill our hearts.
Removing ourselves from our daily environment can provide rest, clarity, reflection, and maybe adventure. Some of us like to travel as a hobby or for work. There's a lot to be said about getting away. It typically is a unique experience each time. It allows for expansion from the norm and it can also build character, while some of us just like to stay home and nest. Home is where the heart is.
Most humans are beings of creature comfort. Some like to sip a good coffee or tea, slowly, in the morning while others like to chill in front of the fireplace with a glass of wine at the end of day. We spend a lot of time, effort and money make our house a home and yes, it can feel so comforting to close the door to the world and do what we need to do inside our castle. What have you done lately to make your heart a home, to help it blossom to its full potential, to live heart-centred?
As one does the inner work, tracking to root causes of angst, anger, isolation, pain, and moves through uncomfortable feelings, one can come to an understanding of the 'why' that is involved. When that happens, thoughts and behaviours can change and often do. Sometimes we even become the observers, able to determine situations in advance and make a decision not to react in a particular way or become involved. Empowerment at this point has gained strength and esteem bubbles up where sometimes there was very little. So often a person comes to realize that they are at the bottom and must choose to make good of uncomfortable truths in their life. And it is with so many things where we just can't seem to get ourselves together, suffering, exhausted, knowing that we cannot continue riding the merry-go-round. We must finally surrender and live from our hearts through releasing the mind and ego to a way of collaborating our sense of organization and reality to protect and guard the heart without squashing or suffocating it.
Life can be joyful and amazing and it can be at times difficult and challenging. It is up to all of us to choose, hopefully a conscious choice as to the way we take our place in the world. To stand in our authentic selves. Truth can be hard-won and if nothing else, inner soul work. It often comes when we give ourselves permission to just 'STOP" and learn to remember and to breathe. We don't have to run away, or try to hide someplace else. We can come home to ourselves and our hearts. It's very doable and sometimes easier if one asks for a guiding compassionate hand. It's true ~ there's no place like home. Your heart will always welcome you.
